Smiski HIPPERS Series — What Are They & How Are They Different?

If you've been keeping up with the Smiski universe, you've probably noticed a newer format popping up alongside the classic blind box figures: the Smiski HIPPERS Series. But what exactly are they, and how are they different from the regular Smiski you know and love? Here's everything you need to know.

What are Smiski HIPPERS?

Smiski HIPPERS are a cheeky twist on the classic Smiski figure. Instead of hiding in corners like the original series, HIPPERS are designed to sit on the edge of things like shelves, monitors, picture frames, plant pots and mugs, with their little legs dangling over the side.

The name comes from the pose: the figure perches on its hips, bottom half dangling while the top half peeks over whatever surface it's sitting on.

How are they different from regular Smiski?

  • Pose: Regular Smiski stand, sit or hide in corners. HIPPERS perch on edges with their legs dangling.
  • Display style: Regular Smiski go on flat surfaces and in corners. HIPPERS need an edge to sit on.
  • Shape: HIPPERS are proportioned differently so they can balance on an edge.
  • Personality: Both lines are adorable, but HIPPERS have a playful, cheeky energy that suits the dangling pose.

Do they still glow in the dark?

Yes! Like classic Smiski, HIPPERS are made from glow-in-the-dark vinyl. Charge them in the light and watch them glow at night, which is even more fun when they're peeking over the edge of your shelf.

Are they blind boxes?

Yes. Smiski HIPPERS come in blind boxes just like the regular series, so you won't know which figure you've got until you open it. New to blind boxes? Our beginner's guide explains how it all works.

The HIPPERS family

The HIPPERS format has grown well beyond Smiski. You can now find edge-sitting versions of other favourites, including Sonny Angel HIPPERS, Chiikawa, Hello Kitty & Friends, Monchhichi and Mofusand. Lining up a few different characters along one shelf is a collector favourite.
